“At this time when I have encountered the precious teachings of the Buddha which are difficult to encounter, should I not obtain from now onwards [either] a state of utter and perfect Buddhahood [or] a supreme Liberation which has abandoned all of the suffering of cyclic existence, I will have to experience yet again the general sufferings of cyclic existence and, in particular, the multifarious sufferings of the lower realms.”
